Send YEP Leeds pictures of your child’s first day at school

Have your say

Parents across Leeds are bracing themselves as they prepare to send their little ones to school for the first time.

And today the Yorkshire Evening Post wants to celebrate your pride of seeing your children in their brand new school uniforms for the first time.

Thousands of children from across Leeds and Wakefield will return to the classroom after enjoying their six week summer break.

And for many youngsters it will be the first time they have passed through the school gates.

We are asking parents, carers and families across the city to share their cherished pictures of their child’s first day at school.

The best pictures will appear in print and be featured in a special online photo gallery on the YEP’s website.

And for a special retro throwback we are calling on you to share your own snaps from your first day at school.

We want to feature your snaps from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or noughties in a special round-up at the end of the week.

* Share you photographs by emailing: or tweet them to @LeedsNews.

Please include your child’s name, age, and where they are from with your submissions.

Photographs should be sent no later than noon on Wednesday, September 3.

School leaders, teachers, governors and MPs from across the region will meet today for a summit that will see delegates discuss academisation and the impact real-terms cuts to funding is having on schools.
