KIND-HEARTED pupils at an east Leeds primary school served up tasty treats for their mothers this week.

Over 260 mums were treated to croissants, toast, pancakes and pain au chocolate at a special Mother’s Day event at Richmond Hill Primary School on Clark Lane.

Head teacher Sue Mudie said: “Our philosophy is that parents are the best educators of their children, and the first educators.

“We want to get parents engaged in the school and let them know how much we value their involvement.”

She added: “The event was absolutely wonderful. The children loved it.”

Children also got the chance to write a poem for their mums, with the winner receiving a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates.

Amanda Kay, school and community support advisor, said the event was a huge success.

She added: “Lots of the children said they really enjoyed having their mums in school and enjoyed trying something new for breakfast.”

Food for the event on Thursday, March 27, was donated by Morrisons and Arla Foods.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, families can visit Leeds City Council’s Redhall plant nursery, where a selection of flowers and plants are available to buy as gifts.

Based in north Leeds, Redhall produces over three million plants a year, which are planted at the city’s parks, roundabouts, flower beds and school grounds.

Councillor Mark Dobson, executive board member for the environment, said: “There are a fantastic variety of plants available at Redhall, and I would urge anyone seeking inspiration for Mother’s Day to pay us a visit and see what we have to offer.

“This is a great chance to purchase a really lovely Mother’s Day present.”
