A champion cyclist joined Leeds schoolchildren to inject Olympic levels of fun into their day.

Dean Downing was at Kippax North junior and Infant school to promote the Walk the History of the Games School Challenge, which encourages walking and cycling to school.

Children from Great Preston and Kippax Ash Tree primary schools also joined in, as Dean helped pupils practice their cycling skills before overseeing a series of races.

Barbara Clark, head teacher at Kippax North Junior and Infant School, said: “Cycling is very important to us, and now we have our own full sized track at school our pupils are able to enjoy exciting challenges, as well as being taught how to cycle safely.”
