Eat Leeds returns, where this year more than 50 eateries create special menus at special prices for a whole week from August 11 - well nine days as the 2018 event has been extended.

The idea is to bring food fans to Leeds from outside the city and to encourage people to try out places and types of food that they have not done before.

Some of the city’s newest places are involved while some established restaurants are taking part for the first time.

Open for just three months now, Simpatico, a pizzeria doing the Italian staple by the slice is extending its menu while Pintura, MEATliquor, Pieminster and Harvey Nichols Fourth Floor Brasserie are cooking up some classics.

With Eat Leeds falling in the school holidays, family friendly restaurants Bibis Italianissimo Cabana and The Cat’s Pyjamas have also been lined up.

Andrew Cooper, Chief Executive at LeedsBID, which is behind the event, said: “It is great to have Eat Leeds Restaurant Week back on the menu. The event aims to serve up something to appeal to all from the city’s ever evolving outstanding food offer, whether you want to enjoy a business lunch, after work social or to dine out with the family.”

The last Eat Leeds in February saw 11,000 diners eat at 114 restaurants over seven days. 63 per cent tried a restaurant that they had never visited before; bringing a £210,000 boost in sales in what is traditionally a quiet period.

Cosy Club saw over 900 diners through the door, whilst the city’s first vegan restaurant Cantina ran out of everything by the end of the week.
