WORK on a new care home in Garforth has taken a significant step forward.

Meridian Healthcare managing director Paula Keys was joined by local councillor Mark Dobson for a ‘topping out’ ceremony at the care home site in Church Gardens.

Due to open in February next year, the home will offer residential care for up to 58 people with facilities including a spa and a gym.

Coun Dobson said: “My colleagues and I were clear that we wanted a new care home on the site formerly occupied by Grange Court, a council-run home demolished in 2014.”

He went on: “The new scheme fits in comfortably, and is in keeping with the immediate surrounding area.”
