It’s just days now from the curtain going up on a new musical and the young performers from three east Leeds primary schools are having a ball.

The children from Parklands Primary School, Swarcliffe Primary, and Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School have been practising for the musical about their area, Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seacroft, at the West Yorkshire Playhouse on Saturday July 15.

Choir Director Claire Rivers, a teacher at St Nicholas Catholic Primary School, has the job of keeping everyone in tune.

She said: “It’s been quite a challenge to get three schools together to rehearse but they are loving every minute of it and can’t wait to be on stage.”

The musical, commissioned by local arts charity Space2, is directed by former Chumawamba musician Boff Whalley. Tickets cost £6. To book call 0113 213 7700.
