A charity says it has been overwhelmed by the response to an appeal to help refugees in Iraq.

Hundreds of bags of clothing have been donated to Connecting Crossgates, based at the Community Hub on Station Road.

Project manager Karen Gray said: “We are so pleased. The local churches played a part by getting the word out and social media also helped.

“People also got involved after passing the hub and just asking what was happening.”
