PREPARATIONS are in full swing in Barwick in Elmet for this month’s visit by judges from the Yorkshire in Bloom competition.

The all-important visit will take place over two hours on Friday, July 17, it has been confirmed.

And John Tinker, chairman of Barwick in Bloom, is urging local residents to do their bit to make the north east Leeds village look its best on the big day.

He also told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he wanted to thank everyone who had supported a recent open gardens day in Barwick that raised around £2,800.

The event saw a total of 12 gardens in the village throwing open their gates to the public.
