A shop manager has won an award from a national conservation charity for helping nurture woodland.

Sarah Brogan, who works at Sainsbury’s Garforth Local, encouraged colleagues and customers at 17 other stores to raise more than £3,000 for The Woodland Trust. The charity will use the funds to support nearby woodlands including Wither Wood, near Denby Dale and West Wood, where a plaque has been placed. The two areas of woodland have been dedicated to Sainsbury’s and the local community.

Sarah won an Aspen Award for most dedicated corporate volunteer in The Woodland Trust’s Volunteer of the Year Awards.
