Driver fails to stop after hitting and injuring pedestrian in Leeds

A car driver who knocked down and seriously injured a man in Bramley before driving off is being hunted by police.

The 53-year-old pedestrian was crossing Broad Lane, in Bramley, at the junction with Newlay Lane, when he was hit by a dark coloured car on Saturday at around 7.25pm.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

PC Pete Schofield, of West Yorkshire Police’s Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support East, said: “The victim has received multiple serious injuries and is continuing to receive treatment in hospital.

“We are conducting enquiries to trace the vehicle involved and I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, particularly anyone who saw a dark coloured car travelling at speed in Broad Lane around that time.”
