Dozens of jobs have been placed at risk after a healthcare firm announced the closure of an office in Leeds.
Simplyhealth, which sells health and dental insurance plans, currently employs 64 staff at its base in Canal Wharf.
They were today told by bosses that the office will be closing, although an exact date has yet to be set for the shutdown.
Some staff will definitely be made redundant but the company says it is too early to say how many.
And various options will be explored as Simplyhealth works out the number of people who will go.
There is the possibility that some employees might relocate to a different site - although the firm’s only other office in the North, in Manchester, is also closing.
Homeworking is another option that could be open to an as-yet-unknown number of staff.
A Simplyhealth spokesman told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Simplyhealth has today informed employees in Leeds of its intention to close the company’s offices in Canal Wharf.
“The closure forms part of a transformation programme that will enable the group to meet customers’ changing healthcare needs over the long term.
“We are working with our people on what this means for them and will make a further announcement in due course.”
Changes under way at Simplyhealth include the refocusing of the business on the provision of everyday healthcare needs such as physiotherapy and dental care.
