LEEDS United fans have been praying for a change of luck during their team’s recent dismal run at home.
And it seems they could have been right in hoping for a spot of divine intervention to help with United’s footballing fortunes.
Leeds have revealed that their Elland Road centre circle and home dressing room have both been ‘blessed’ with holy water by Monsignor Philip Moger of St Anne’s Cathedral in Leeds.
The unusual step was requested by United chairman Massimo Cellino ahead of the club’s match at Elland Road against Cardiff City last night.
And Cellino may well feel his idea paid off, with a wonder goal from midfield starlet Alex Mowatt giving Leeds their first win at home for eight months.
