A Joyous Christmas concert at Dewsbury Town Hall certainly lived up to its name as music lovers enjoyed a night of seasonal favourites from the Orchestra of Opera North.

The sold-out programme, a highlight of the Kirklees Concert Season, also featured the combined voices of the Chorus of Opera North plus Opera North Children’s Chorus and Youth Chorus.

A Joyous Christmas included selections from the Manchester Carols written by Carol Ann Duffy, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden, the Troika from Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kijé, and plenty of sing-along festive favourites.

The Kirklees Concert Season continues with an afternoon of Strauss and Lehár in Viennese Whirl at Leeds Town Hall tomorrow.
