Depressed woman was found hanging

A DEPRESSED woman was found hanging by a dressing gown cord in her Leeds home by family, an inquest heard.

Jane Ward, 34, had suffered from depression from an early age but her condition worsened after her dad's death in 2005.

The civil servant's partner had alerted her mum after Ms Ward failed to turn up for work on January 21.

They found her dead at her home on Brunswick Place, Morley.

Toxicology tests found Ms Ward had alcohol in her system and was just under twice the drink drive limit.

Coroner David Hinchliffe said: "The significance of that is that alcohol of that level would have some influence on a person's judgement."

Prozac was also found in her system – although not an excessive amount.

Concluding the inquest, Mr Hinchliffe said: "It would appear Jane has for a number of years suffered from depression. She was on anti-depressants.

"I suspect Jane must have entered a particularly bad phase of her depression at that time. She has taken her own life while suffering from an episode of depression."
