Defendant in court accused of murder of unknown man in Leeds

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of man whose identity is yet to be confirmed.

Bartlomiej Dedek, 34, appeared before Leeds Crown Court today over the death of a man who was found with serious injuries at a house on Bexley Mount, Harehills, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the property at 1.37am after being contacted by the ambulance service.

The court heard the identity of the dead man had yet to be established.

Dedek, of Bexley Mount, appeared in court on screen via a videolink from Armley Prison.

No plea was entered and no application was made for bail.

A plea and trial preparation hearing date was set for March 16.

A trial is likely to be held in August, depending on Dedek’s plea.

Dedek, who was assisted throughout the brief hearing by a Polish interpreter, was remanded in custody until the next hearing.

Three other men, aged 46, 50 and 51, and 40-year-old woman were also arrested on suspicion of murder after the incident but have been released without charge.
