A community day of celebration will be held in memory of tragic MP Jo Cox.

The newly-formed ‘More in Common’ group, made up of colleagues of the murdered Batley and Spen MP, community groups and individuals determined to honour her life, organised the event to bring people together.

There will be various sporting activities including a football tournament, circus skills, an assault course and archery. Other attractions include a bouncy castle and drumming workshops.

Mrs Cox’s sister, Kim Leadbeater said: “Jo dearly loved the people of Batley and Spen, and so we’re planning a day of fun for the whole community to enjoy. It will be a day of celebration, and I know it will be a day she would have enjoyed.”

The free event takes place at Upper Batley High School from noon until 5pm on September 3.
