Main story. Yorkshire heart patients are testing a pill that has been hailed as a wonder drug that can reverse cardiac disease. Hospitals in the county are involved in trials involving 2000 patients of cholesterol-busting rosuvastatin. Millions of people in the UK are at risk of suffering heart attacks and strokes because of the build-up of fat in their arteries. Medical experts have in the past concentrated on trying to slow the progress of the condition. But a groundbreaking study has now shown that intensive use of rosuvastatin can actually reduce the fatty deposits. That in turn could even repair damaged arteries.
