Main story. West Yorkshire police have launched an investigation into claims that fine money paid to Leeds Magistrates Court has been stolen.

The Yorkshire Evening Post can reveal a court official has been interviewed by detectives and a file has been forwarded for consideration to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). A magistrates court spokeswoman said that a member of staff had been suspended.

She added: “As it is now part of a police inquiry we cannot comment any further. There is nothing to suggest at this stage that this is anything more than an isolated incident.”
