A woman is seriously injured after being dragged along a road by a car in Harehills.

It happened at 2.30pm on Strathmore Avenue on Sunday, September 13.

She was dragged along the road by a silver Vauxhall Astra.

The drivers then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for immediate treatment.

She is in a serious but stable condition.

A 34 year old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

He is currently in custody.

Police are urgently seeking information about the incident and the identify of the victim.

Leeds District Acting Detective Inspector, Victoria Alexander is investigating the incident and said: “Unfortunately we currently have no way of being able to establish the identity of the victim, as she was found with no means of identification.

“Due to her current condition, we are not in a position to engage with her at this time, but it is crucial that we are quickly able to determine who she is and progress our investigations accordingly.

“It is likely that she will have family and friends who will also want to know what has happened and to support her during this time.

“This was clearly a traumatic incident, which has occurred in the middle of the day when it is likely people will have been in the vicinity and saw what happened.

“CCTV enquiries are taking place and we are looking to retrieve any dash-cam footage which may exist from other passing motorists.

“Crucially, I appealing to anyone who knows the identity of the injured woman to contact us straight away using the non-emergency number 101 or via the live chat system on the Force website quoting log reference 1038 of 13/09.
