A woman has been killed after being hit by a van in Leeds

It happened at about 10.15am on Thursday, August 13 on Back Athlone Grove in Armley.

A Ford Transit van had been involved in a crash with the woman.

The 69-year-old woman was taken to hospital by ambulance.

She was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the van, a man in his fifties, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention.

He was later released under investigation.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident .
