West Yorkshire Police reveal the number of drink or drug driving arrests made per day in December

An average of 11 drink or drug drivers a day were arrested in West Yorkshire last month, police have confirmed.

Officers made 341 arrests during the National Police Chiefs' Council Winter Drink and Drug Drive crackdown in December.

Of the arrests, 164 were for drink driving, with 156 for drug driving.

A further 21 people were arrested for failing to provide a specimen.

The West Yorkshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted on Tuesday: "A total of 341 drivers were arrested in West Yorkshire during the @PoliceChiefs Winter Drink & Drug Driving Campaign in December.

"An average of 11 arrests each day. 164 arrests for drink. 156 for drugs. 21 who failed to provide a specimen. #WYPTheCost"
