West Yorkshire Police catch 30 drink and drug drivers on Mad Friday
A West Yorkshire Police team caught 30 drink and drug drivers in just one day yesterday - on what has become known as Mad Friday.
The Roads Policing Unit (RPU) revealed they had caught "astonishing" number of drivers as part of a December crackdown on drink and drug driving.
So far, 269 drivers have been arrested since the campaign launched on December 1.
Posting on Twitter, officers from the RPU said: "Day 21 - an astonishing 30! more motorists dealt with for drink or drug driving. Clearly Mad Friday is aptly named."
Last year, West Yorkshire Police made 284 arrests for drink driving and 92 arrests for drug driving throughout December.
