West Yorkshire Police appeal for information after 90-year-old Wakefield man dies in hospital after crash

A 90-year-old man from Wakefield has died in hospital after a crash and West Yorkshire Police are appealing for information.

Colin Benn died on December 27 after suffering serious injuries in the crash which occurred in Cliff Parade.

The crash happened just after 1pm on December 15 when Mr Benn was in a collision with a white Lexus IS 300h car near to the junction with Wood Street.

The 34-year-old driver of the vehicle has been spoken to by police but officers are still looking for information and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or what happened leading up to it to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101 quoting log 722 of 15/12.

West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are issuing a new appeal for information after an elderly man who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision passed away in hospital.

"Colin Benn, who was 90 and from Wakefield, died on Sunday, 27 December following the collision in Cliff Parade, which happened at just after 1pm on 15 December.

"Mr Benn was in collision with a white Lexus IS 300h car, near to the junction with Wood Street.

"The driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old local man, has been spoken to by police.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or what happened leading up to it, is asked to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101 or through the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log 722 of 15/12.

"Officers would also like to hear from anyone with dash cam or mobile phone footage which may assist in the investigation."
