West Leeds: Young thug thumps woman as he tries to steal phone

A WOMAN was punched in the face by a youth who tried to snatch her phone on grassland next to a path in daylight.

The victim was making a call as she walke between the Armley gyratory roundabout and Wellington Road,Leeds, at about 5.45pm on Thursday.

As she past a group of young people a youth aged about 16 made a grab for her mobile. When the woman screamed in shock, the would-be-robbeer punched her in the face.

Despite the blow the woman clung to the phone and managed to break free from his grasp and run off into the early evening.

Holbeck CID hunting the raider described the attacker as a white youth aged about 16, around 5ft 8in tall and of skinny build with a fair complexion. He had fair to mousey coloured short hair and wore white tracksuit bottoms, a white tracksuit top which had electric blue stripes or panels down the sleeves.

With the youth at the time was a white female about 5ft 5in tall with broad shoulders and a large bust. She wore a zip-up dark green hooded top and dark coloured trousers. The group also included a white male with short brown hair and light coloured clothing.
