Warnings have been issued to shoppers at a Leeds supermarket after a string of bag thefts from trolleys.

Police said Morrison’s in Morley had seen six incidents in the last two months.

In the most recent incident a bag containing £2,600 in cash was stolen along with a bank card, house keys and driving licence.

Another victim lost a purse containing cards and a PIN number that was written on the inside.

The Leeds outer south neighbourhood policing team said: “Please may we remind shoppers to be vigilant, especially in the run up to Christmas and with busying crowds. People are often in a rush and focussed on buying presents more than being aware of what’s going on around them.”
