Police have released an e-fit image of a robber who followed an 82-year-old woman into her home and then tussled with her before stealing her handbag.

As reported in yesterday’s Yorkshire Evening Post, the pensioner was returning from a shop when a man barged into her home on Springhill Close in Outwood on Saturday night.

There was a struggle during which she scratched his face before he got away.

Det Con Bryn Hampshire, of Wakefield District CID, said: “As part of our ongoing enquiries in to this incident we have worked with the victim to create this e-fit image.

“If you were in the area around the time of this offence and saw a man of similar appearance then we are interested in speaking to you.

“Alternatively, if you believe you know the identity of the man pictured then please give us a call.”

Anyone with information should call Wakefield District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
