Wakefield crash victim named UPDATED

POLICE have named a man who died when his car overturned in Wakefield in the early hours on Tuesday. (August 22)

Ammer Ashraf, 31, suffered fatal injuries when the Toyota Corolla he was driving crashed and ended up on its roof on Denby Dale Road in the Calder Grove area of Wakefield just before 4am.

Mr Ashraf, of Agbrigg, Wakefield, was driving towards Wakefield when the incident happened.

Firefighters from Ossett cut Mr Ashraf free from the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Denby Dale Road was closed between Branch Road and Bretton Roundabout until just before 9am on Tuesday.
