Video: Leeds Spiders wheelchair basketball team showcase skills

WET weather failed to dampen the spirits of participants at a sporting challenge event in Leeds’s Millennium Square.

Members of the Leeds Spiders wheelchair basketball team seized the chance to show off their formidable skills during a Paralympic-themed event, organised by confectionery giant Cadbury.

Visitors could also try their hand at wheelchair tennis as well as a fun range of ‘giant games’.

Sonia Chhatwal, London 2012 community manager for Cadbury, said yesterday’s event had been organised as a showcase of what disabled sport has to offer.

She went on: “We want to engage with the local community and provide the opportunity for people with and without disabilities to try these sports.”

Cadbury is the official treat provider to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The firm has raised more than £50,000 and carried out various other activities in support of the British Paralympic Association over the last three years.
