He is in custody awaiting a Leeds Crown Court hearing later this month.

Detectives investigating the incident asked for the public’s help in finding items of possibly bloodstained clothing that were believed to have been discarded in the area after the incident.

Det Chief Insp Jon Morgan, of West Yorkshire Police Protective Services, said: “We received a number of calls from members of the public as a direct result of the appeal through the media and subsequently recovered a number of items of clothing that we believe are linked to the investigation.

“I am very grateful to those members of the public who have assisted us with this and to the media for the coverage they provided which promoted the appeal.”
