Two men shot in "isolated" incident in Bradford last night

Two men are being treated for gunshot wounds in West Yorkshire in an incident that has been linked to the later discovery of a burned out car.

West Yorkshire Police say that two men, both in their twenties, went to hospital last night following a report of a firearms discharge in Heaton Road, close to the junction with Rose Street at about 10.34pm.

A short time later police were contacted about a burned out vehicle which had been found a short distance away.

This is believed to be linked to the gunshots and has been recovered for further tests while a spokesperson added that the men's injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Det Chief Insp Jaz Khan, of the Firearms Prevent Team, said: “Enquiries are at an early stage, but we believe this to be a targeted attack and there is not thought to be a wider risk to the public"

He has appealed for anyone who was in the area or may have seen anything suspicious to contact 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
