A dad who repeatedly raped and abused his seven-year-old daughter over a prolonged period of time has been jailed for 20 years.

A court heard the 33-year-old dad, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, also subjected four of his other to children to cruelty and physical assaults at their home in south Leeds.

A judge sentenced the father after hearing how he targeted the youngster after she had already been seriously sexually abused by another man when she was just two years old.

Police also discovered indecent images of children on his computer after he was arrested over the horrific abuse.

The man pleaded guilty to 10 offences of child cruelty and 11 offences of possessing indecent images of children.

He pleaded not guilty to eight offences of rape of a child under the age of 13, but was found guilty by a jury after a trial at Leeds Crown Court.

The court heard another man is currently serving a long prison sentence after being convicted of sexual offences against the girl when she was aged just two years old.

Police moved in after the girl revealed to her school teachers in 2011 how her father had also been abusing her.

The court heard the
youngster had suffered serious psychological harm as a result of the ordeals she had been subjected to.

It was then revealed how the dad had also left his other children covered in bruises by slapping them.

Social workers found their family home to be dirty, cluttered and unhygienic.

The court heard two of the children had to be taught how to wash, brush their teeth and use a knife and fork after social services intervened.

After being convicted of the sex offences against his daughter, the father admitted to a probation officer what he had done. He also said he considered himself to be danger to young children and described himself as a “predator”

Judge Rodney Jameson, QC, told the father: “You knew of her abuse and the effect it had on her. You had every reason to protect her and she was entitled to that protection. But you behaviour towards her was the grossest breach of that trust.”
