Terrified mum and daughter confront burglars in home

DETECTIVES have released efit images of two men they want to track down after a terrified mum and daughter returned home to find burglars in their kitchen.

The burglary happened on Cock Lane, Crofton in Wakefield on Aug 23.

Climbing in through the gap, she heard banging noises and discovered a man in her kitchen who she then challenged.

She then saw a second man in her living room.

Both men left the house through the gap in the window- with the second man returning to collect his baseball cap.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “The victim’s daughter chased the first suspect onto Parkway but after he threatened her she returned home.

The first man is described as white, late 20’s to early 30’s, 5ft 8ins tall and of a stocky to overweight build. He had dark hair and dark eyes and was wearing a blue fleece, a black baseball cap and spoke with a Yorkshire accent.

The second was white, mid to late 20’s, tall and of a slim build. He had fair or ginger coloured hair and was wearing a camouflage top and bottoms.

It’s believed that the men may have left the scene in a burgundy/maroon Ford car.

Both victims were uninjured but shaken by the incident.

Acting DI Mark Catney of Wakefield CID said: “It is very unusual to find a burglar in your home. If you do the best thing is to leave the property and immediately call the Police on 999.”
