Teenager, 18, to go on trial accused of attempted murder over stabbing of man in Beeston

A teenager is to go on trial accused of attempting to murder a man who suffered serious stab injuries in Leeds.

Eighteen-year-old Osvaldo Rodriquez pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before Leeds Crown Court yesterday (July 6).

The defendant faces the charge after a 21-year-old man was stabbed in an alleyway in Beeston on June 6 this year.

The incident took place between the Abu Bakr supermarket and the BFC chicken shop.at around 5pm.The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and received stitches to lacerations to the back of his head.

His injuries were not considered life threatening and he remains in hospital.

Rodriquez, of Longroyd Grove, Beeston, will go on trial on November 16.

He also pleads not guilty to a charge of having a bladed article.

The trial is expected to last five days.

Rodriquez appeared in court via a video link from HMP Doncaster.

He was returned to custody after the hearing.
