Teenage drug dealer locked up over stash of cocaine, cannabis and cash found in caravan in Leeds

A teenage drug dealer who dealt thousands of pounds worth of drugs from a caravan in Leeds has been sent to a young offender institution.

Jordan Burton was given a three-year sentence after a court heard how he was arrested by police in possession of cocaine and cannabis on three separate occasions.

Leeds Crown Court heard West Yorkshire Police officers searched the caravan on Fairfax Avenue, Drighlington, on December 11 last year and seized quantities of cannabis and cocaine along with £590 in cash.

Burton was not at the caravan at the time of the search but returned while officers were still there.

Mobile phones were also found which contained texts linking Burton to street drug dealing.

The 19-year-old defendant was released on bail but was arrested again on March 31 this year.

Officers stopped a car in which he was a passenger and found him in possession of bags of cocaine and cannabis.

More drugs and cash were found in the caravan.

Mobile founds were again seized which contained texts linking Burton to drug supply.

There was also evidence that he had received payments for drugs via bank transfer.

Burton pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of cocaine with intent to supply, three counts of possession of cannabis with intent to supply and two counts of possession of criminal property.

Ms Whitehead said Burton has been diagnosed with ADHD and was misusing drugs himself during the offending.

Judge Neil Clark said: "You had dealt very many thousands of pounds worth of drugs.

"It maybe that the idleness of lockdown contributed to your poor decision making.

"Dealing in class A drugs ruins lives."
