'Significant increase' of drivers on West Yorkshire roads during lockdown as police catch speeding vehicles

West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit have been out 'patrolling and responding to numerous speeding complaints'.

The force said there had been a 'significant increase in the amount of vehicles using the roads' during the lockdown.

Officers stopped motorists speeding across 30mph and 40mph limits, the force said today.

In a tweet, WYPRPU said: "We have been out patrolling and responding to numerous speeding complaints across the divisions.

"There has been a significant increase in the amount of vehicles using the roads during this lockdown.

"Some speeds caught are; 58mph in a 30 limit, 67mph in a 40mph, and 62 in a 40."
