Several people seriously injured in horror crash on Dewsbury Road in Leeds

At about 4.59pm today, a vehicle travelling towards Leeds crossed the carriageway and smashed into a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

Several people are seriously injured and have been rushed to hospital.

Police have closed Dewsbury Road in both directions from Wide Lane to the Tingley Roundabout.

Video footage shows a large number of emergency services including a helicopter at the scene.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and find an alternative route and there are also delays on the M62 at junction 28 due to the crash.
