Selby: Weedkiller warning after drums stolen from lorry

POLICE in Selby are warning the public to look out for two drums of dangerous weedkiller stolen from a lorry.

Two 10 litre drums of Spruce weed killer were taken from a curtain sided lorry parked on Lunnfields Lane at Burton Salmon, near Selby, between 7.45pm on Tuesday, March 29, and 6am Wednesday, March 30.

The weed killer is intended for agricultural use and carries a hazardous chemical level 9 warning. This means it is dangerous as it can self combust if incorrectly handled.

Inspector Chris Witty, of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “As this is a hazardous chemical which can pose a significant risk to those handing it, I need to speak to anyone who knows anything about this theft as a matter of urgency. If you can help to locate the containers please contact me as soon as possible.”
