'Seatbelts save lives': Two people hospitalised after car hit ladders and flipped into ditch on M62

Two people were hospitalised after a car hit ladders on the M62 before sliding into the barrier and flipping into a ditch.

The occupants of the car were rescued by police and taken to hospital as a precaution with slight injuries, police said.

One was described as having a bruised shin following the incident on Thursday (April 16).

West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "If there was any doubt that seatbelts save lives this should be the answer."

The tweet continued: "Car hits lost ladders in lane 3 of the M62 before sliding into the barrier and flipping over coming to rest in a ditch.

"Both occupants taken to hospital as a precaution with slight injuries.

"One described as only having a bruised shin.

"Thanks to all that stopped to help and provide witness accounts to rapidly clear up how all this happened."
