Quad driver caught trying to flee from police after license plate fell off

A quad driver who tried who tried to flee from police was caught after his license plate fell off.

Officers from the North East policing team spotted a quad bike being driven dangerously on Sunday, August 9.

The driver tried to make off from the officers.

Unfortunately, as he sped away his number plate fell off.

Police were then able to trace him.

They issued him with a Section 59 warning and reported him to court for careless driving.

A Section 59 warning allows police to stop vehicles that are being used in a manner causing "alarm, distress or annoyance", according to the government legislation.

A West Yorkshire Police - Leeds North East team spokesman said: "Officers from Leeds North East NPT spotted a quad being driven dangerously.

"The driver made off from officers but as he did his number plate fell off and he has now been traced and issued a s59 warning and reported to court for careless driving."

The WYP Leeds North East team covers Alwoodley, Chapel Allerton, Harewood, Moortown, Roundhay, Wetherby and surrounding areas.
