Harehills Lane was closed this afternoon for several hours after a four-car crash.

Police say they were following a Seat car when it was involved in a collision with a Volvo car and two other vehicles at around 1.43pm.

A woman in the Volvo is said to have suffered a non-life threatening injury to her lower body and was taken to hospital for treatment. A man in the same car was also taken to Leeds General Infirmary for a precautionary check-up.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police had been following the Seat at the time of the incident and arrested an 18-year-old man from the car on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs.

"Harehills Lane was closed at the junction of Ashley Road while the vehicles involved were recovered and enquiries into the incident remain ongoing."
