North Yorkshire Police said the force has received 12 separate reports over the last week of individuals, particularly in the Harrogate area, receiving calls from a scammer claiming to be DC Mason Greenwood of West Yorkshire Police or the Metropolitan Police.

Police said the scammer claims that the individual's nephew or grandson is in police custody and has bank cards belonging to the individual as well as other stolen bank cards.
