Police swoop on Harehills and issue raft of fines for illegal parking

Police have swooped on Harehills after complaints about drivers parking cars on double and single yellow lines in the Leeds suburb.

PCSOs from West Yorkshire Police teamed up with a parking services officer from Leeds Council on roads including Cowper Road and Florence Street in Harehills.

Police said vehicles are 'frequently parked in contravention of the law', including double and single yellow lines and often ignoring parking time restrictions.

In total, officers issued 18 fines for illegal parking on the day, Thursday August 6. Police issued information about the fines on Saturday, August 8.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "PCSOs Chatband and Mikes worked together with a Parking Services Officer from Leeds City Council on roads such as Cowper Road and Florence street in Harehills.

"Vehicles are frequently parked in contravention of Road Traffic Act regulations such as parking on single/double yellow lines.

"Action was also taken on vehicles who ignored parking times restrictions or the need to hold a parking permit for specific areas. This time, 18 Penalty Charge Notices have been issued for illegal parking.
