Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit attended various areas in Leeds North West as part of Operation SPARC on Thursday (December 17).

This work was completed in addition to the pro-active traffic work that police conduct daily in the North West area.

Operation SPARC targets the 'Fatal 4' which is the name for the four main causes of road deaths & serious injury collisions.

Areas attended included Broadway Horsforth, Queensway Yeadon, Victoria Avenue Yeadon, Leeds Road in Otley & A65 Guiseley.

One vehicle was seized as the driver had no insurance or licence.

A total of five people also received tickets for not wearing seatbelts.

Police said: "Further deployments will be taking place in the North West area to ensure our roads are safe for all."

The force also worked with Safer Roads colleagues in Wetherby and Harewood earlier this month.

Drivers were given advice regarding their speed and five were reported to court.

One person was dealt with for possessing cannabis, police confirmed.
