Police stinger stops car towing suspected stolen caravan in Leeds after chase

POLICE used a stinger device to stop a car towing a suspected stolen caravan in a Leeds village

North Yorkshire Police said the caravan was being towed by a car on false number plates which failed to stop for police near on the A63 near Sherburn in Elmet just after 9.30pm last night. (Thurs Nov 2)

Police started pursuing the car and suspected stolen caravan, which was running on only two wheels.

Officers follwed the car and caravan for several miles along the A63

The car and caravan were stopped after a stinger spike strip was deployed near Gateforth, Selby.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the theft of the car and caravan, failing to stop and dangerous driving.

He is currently in custody while police enquiries continue.
