Police seized skunk cannabis from house in Leeds after being called to reports of armed men outside property in Harehills

A court heard armed officers went to the house on Conway Avenue, Harehills, but found no signs of a disturbance.

Police spoke to a man standing on the front doorstep and he told them he was there to buy some tobacco.

The officers went into the living room of the house and found Chenar Kader sitting on a sofa.

Deborah Smithies, prosecuting, told Leeds Crown Court the officers checked the rest of the property to see if there were any injured people inside.

No one else was in the house and the other man entered and sat besides Kader on the sofa.

The bag contained 32 sealed bags of skunk cannabis.

Further amounts of the class B drug were found underneath the kitchen sink.

A jacket was also found inside the house which contained £210 in cash.

Police searched Kedar and found him in possession of slips of paper.

One of the slips had a message on it stating: "Bexley Terrace Leeds. Sell weed."

The 32-year-old, of Albert Road, Middlesbrough, was arrested but refused to comment when interviewed over the incident, which took place on April 6, 2018.

The defendant pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply at a hearing in September this year.

He appeared in court for sentence via a video link from HMP Durham.

Kedar was given an 18-week prison sentence but was told he would be released due to the amount of time he has already spent in custody.
