Police release update after man critically injured in violent assault in Beeston

Police have released an update after a man was critically injured after being struck over the head by three men in Beeston.

Officers were called to reports of a fight on Dewsbury Road, near Cross Flatts Park, at 9.54pm on Friday.

A 28-year-old man is believed to have been confronted by three men and struck over the head.

He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police has now confirmed that the man remains in hospital in a critical condition as of 3pm on Saturday.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
