Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 9pm and 9.30pm to come forward.

They also confirmed that the man was found by a relative and his neighbour.

Det Chief Insp Mark Swift, of the county’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET), said: “Police are conducting enquiries into this man’s death, and we are treating the matter as an unexplained death.

“A post mortem will be carried out to confirm a cause of death but as it is currently unexplained and the man’s body was found in the open, we are appealing for witnesses.”

Anyone with information is asked to ring HMET using the West Yorkshire force’s 101 phone number, referencing police log 1838 of February 24.
