Police name man who was found dead in bushes by M621 footbridge

Police have named a man whose body was found by the M621.

Edward Franklin, aged 36, of no fixed address, was discovered in bushes near to the footbridge at Burton Row, Hunslet, at 4.24pm on Tuesday.

A post mortem examination to establish the cause of his death was inconclusive, so police are appealing for the public's help to try to trace his final movements.

He was known to spend a lot of time in the city centre as part of the street community and was last seen near Kirkgate Market at about 10.30am on Saturday, August 29.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw him near where he was found or anywhere else at any point between Saturday, August 29, and Tuesday, September 8.

A 29-year-old man, who was arrested in connection with the incident, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
