Police make unusual appeal for information after reports of 'woman lying down' in back of a van

Police were called after concerns were raised for a woman who was seen lying down in the back of a van in Bradford.

Officers were called to Manchester Road at 7.41pm yesterday (Monday, March 30) after a motorist driving past became concerned.

He said the white van was parked up by shops with its rear doors open, close to the junction with Bottomley Street.

The caller said that two men, both described as Asian, were with the vehicle and an Asian woman, believed to be around 20 to 30 years old, was lying down inside.

The caller said the van drove off towards the city centre.

West Yorkshire Police have not received any matching missing person reports and are continuing their enquiries.

A spokeswoman said: "Anyone who saw a white van parked at this location at about 7pm yesterday is asked to contact Bradford District CID on 101, or use the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website.

"The log reference is 1426 of 30 March."
