Police hunting masked man after petrol bomb is thrown at van in Leeds

A van went up in flames after a masked man threw a petrol bomb at it on Sunday night.

West Yorkshire Police were called to Silver Royd Hill in Wortley at 10.30pm.

A man with his face covered was seen throwing a "petrol bomb-type item" to start the fire, a police spokesman said.

The man had arrived at the scene in a red car, police said.

The incident has been recorded as criminal damage by officers.

The fire was put out by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service shortly after 11pm.
